Question Splined Lug Nuts???

Getting close to swapping out the all season tires for winter tires but dont want to go through the headaches of dealing with the factory lug nuts. I was looking around for lug nuts, the usual suspects came up(terrible websites that they have) but i digress. I came across these full set of lug nuts from a company i have never heard of or seen this type of lug nut before, does anyone have any experience with this brand and style?? Thanks for looking and your experiences. Be safe!!!! LINK

One of my co-workers had a flat. I stopped to see if I could help, distract him, etc. Next thing I know, he realizes he has those splined jobs and no wrench. I gave him a ride to the tire store where he bought them. They gave him a socket. I am thinking they are all the same, and will deter the amatuer, but the pro will have the wrench. Mcgard at least has several wrench patterns.

But as lug nuts, if they are solid and the taper is correct, they will be an improvement over the easily tweaked stockers.

You can't use those on OEM wheels, you have been warned. The OEM wheels take "XL Bulge" anything less and the lug nuts can rip right through the metal of the wheel because there isn't enough surface area.

I have them on mine and as mentioned they'll deter the person that doesn't want to mess with them, as will any keyed set, but if they are good they will have the tools needed to get any lug nut off. They've been on 40k miles and haven't had any issues with them. I also had them on my last truck for around 80k and no issues.

I don't use them ob factory wheels so I can't echo ford390's comment but I have no reason to doubt what was said.

Thanks to everyone for the info, im not concerned about theft of my wheels just looking for a replacement set of lug nuts that wont give me the headaches im experiencing with the ones that came on my stock truck. Good God, i can change out a set of wheels on my dually quicker than this 1/2 ton F150, sad that a customer has to go out and buy a replacement set of lug nuts that he already has paid for.

Any one have any thoughts of using the XL open lug nuts?? I realize they wont look all fancy and all but as long as they will come on/off without hassle.

Thanks ford390, wont use the ones above.

Had Gorillas on my last truck and as soon as the chrome cap on my '18 wear out, they will get a set of them as well. They are solid and you can run the impact on them no problem. Should be PN 61148CX but confirm.

those spline lug nuts have always come with new rims i buy for a set of winter tires with new vehicles, mainly because the rims have always had more recessed sockets.

they work great. i prefer them because they don’t strip like the chrome plated lug nuts. Never had an issue with them.

We install solid chrome lug nuts at work when they swell. Not sure the brand but we get them from Wheel Pro's by the hundreds. 19mm hex in all the common threads

When I switched to the Platinum wheels I used a set of Gorilla's. They are great!

To the OP, I'd be leery about the "chrome" finish on those.

EDIT
Wow..... Looked at the Link provided. Walmart and $29.99 for a set of 24? Can you say cheap Chinese junk? Don't waste your time or $ IMO

After over 133K miles and many tire rotations, I’ve never had any problems with my OEM lug nuts as have many other owners.

With that being said, if you’re worried about them, just purchase the Gorilla lug nuts and be done with it.

you'll never see the problem in Georgia.. Here in NY we go through 100 new solid chrome lug nuts weekly at my shop just repairing the swollen lug nuts from various brands. The steel nut rusts and expands under the stainless cap.

The terminology is confusing, at least to me, thread/pitch, no problem, length no problem, taper(60deg), no problem but acorn acorn bulge, xl bulge , I dont get it. I honestly never knew that lug nuts could be complicated? Would anyone have a exact replacement to stock in gorilla/mcgaurd/white knight or whatever other good qauality nuts available. Thanks

I didn’t know that the real Gorilla replacement lug nuts for the F150 utilized a cap like the OEM lug nuts but I can see fake ones using such a design.

I learned something new today.

The Gorillas are not capped - they are solid and tripe chrome plated.
