Tire Load Rating

I am looking into putting 37's on my 2020 and have been comparing different sizes. I was looking at the nitto ridge grapplers and the D load rated version has a higher maximum load rating then the E load rated. Should I stick with the E load rated since that is what is on it or go with the D load rated since they can handle a higher maximum load?

A D rated tire holds less than a E rated tire.

It depends on your use I suppose. The E has 10 plys, D has 8. E is generally going to be stiffer than a D and will usually have a higher maximum pressure require to achieve maximum load, so more stability when towing, probably a harsher ride when empty. That being said, as long as they're both capable of meeting the load requirements for your truck, I'm guessing those tires would have very similar seat of the pants characteristics.

A tire with a lower ply rating I think would have a softer side wall. Even though the tire has a higher weight rating it is because it is a bigger tire not a stiffer side wall. I would be concerned about getting flex in the side wall, causing a slight sway motion with a max load on the truck. I would talk to a "truck" tire dealer to verify my theory if you tow or haul heavy loads.
