Ambient Air Temp Relocation

Been a while but im back . I recently upgraded my mirrors to ones with the lights and added side cameras to them . One thing I wasnt aware of was the AAT sensor. There's no provision to mount it back . While unplugged from harness it would read 50*.

I relocated it to the front grill. Just under the headlight far forward as I can go .

Started out at 50 . Climbing by 2* till it was 146* . Its 84 here now .. hahah . Torque pro has its value at 185*. It did slowly make it to 185. Then back to 170's , 160s.. way high . Are these wires polarity sensitive? 7 hour trip to Vegas today and it never showed correct .

The diagram I seen online show pins 9 and 10 on then sensor harness. Mine say 1 and 2

Is this a thermistor , or thermocouple or what?
DISCLAIMER, sensor did get knocked off from about 4' and hit the concrete. I have a new Motorcraft one being brought in tomorrow.

So ... wire polarity?? What would happen if reversed?

Length of wire ? Does it matter i added 4 feet of 18 gauge wire ?

Bad sensor ?

I think you are getting heat from engine compartment skewing the accuracy. Also, it was on the underside of the mirror so that it was in the "shade". Is there any way to modify the new mirror to mount in it?

I thought that till I checked with my hand and temp gun . Its still in the shade. 1" further and it would be mounted to the grille. So I dont believe its that. Later model SD's have them up front as well.

If it had been logical to do so I would have retro fitted the mirror. I dont think my dremel skills are up to the task .

What I would like to know is if that is polarity sensitive?

Next step i guess is once I get the new one ill put them on a meter side by side and compare them I guess.

What I can do to see is velcro the sensor to the bottom of the mirror on my way home and we can see how it acts . To eliminate that part of it.

That will be later tonight after my trip back

Not easily what the plastic bracket its mounted on . By chance do you know of a simple thread thru or snap in one that will work. The bracket is kinda wierd and genius at the same time . The push in "Christmas tree" is in a bad spot to get the probe out without using the bracket.
