I just swapped my T-9 Trans for a T-98 in my 51 F2 V8. All went well, except the transmission mounting holes are about 3/8” too far back to get bolts into the frame cross member.
Any suggestions on how to move everything forward? Loosen exhaust? (Just replaced it) Loosen front motor mounts? Or maybe something I’m not thinking of? Simple prying doesn’t seem to be moving anything.
The T-98 is a few inches longer than the crash box. A real tight fit down through the floor.
Check the mount on the T98 and make sure it is not cracked and bent back. It is common for them to crack. If everything is good with the mount, I would loosen the engine mounts, but it should be a bolt in replacement with the exception of the drive shaft.

The mount looked ok when I cleaned it up and painted it. I’ll try loosening the motor mounts and see if it will move. Thanks for the heads up on the bent mount.
Looks like the front drive shaft needs to be about 2-1/2” shorter. Luckily, there’s a little drive shaft shop right up the road.
The other issues I noticed are that the hand brake assembly needs a longer actuating rod to work properly, and I’ll need to heat and bend the shifter cane because it hits the dash in first and third gear.
