Starter vent/vent caps?

Well...I got a whole new (to me) Expedition to start posting questions about.
I have my 2004 up for sale now that I have it all together and new intake manifold no longer leaking coolant.
The wife found a 2011 limited that she liked.
Don't know if it is any better or worse than the 04 for how much I will have to work on it, but I think she likes al the options and gadgets.
Needs ROCKER panels REALLY bad.
Just like the 04 does, searching to see if I can have someone else work on those or if I will scab something up myself.
A few other odds and ends too.
BUT...
It started pretty hard when test driven and since we got it.
I tried charging the battery up and even swapped known good one from the 04.
Still slower cranking and scared the wife that she may get stranded.
So I spent most of yesterday on my back in the driveway and pulled starter after checking cables etc.
Took starter into town and was told tested good.
Wasn't sticking it back on after all the trouble and contorting to get it off there.
New starter MUCH better
Glad it wasn't a total waste.
Now my question...there were little rubber vents or caps on the starter motor and solenoid.
Both popped off as I worked to install it.
Can't find one of them and the other I cannot get to stay back on.
I was assuming that these were some sort of one way check valve breather drain by looks of it.
For the mean time, I covered the mating pieces with chrome metal HVAC joint tape to keep water and filth out.
Anyone have any more knowledge about these tiny rubber "caps"?
Best to seal the starter?
Any way to replace these and get them to stay?
Guessing the rebuilder didn't do as well as factory.
Appreciate whatever I can find out, even if nothing to worry about.
LIke the rear brake hoses...

NO more than got starter installed and see the rear brakes that former owners had redone had the hose rubbing on the insides of the rear rims....
Coupe days of us driving it and brake fluid stains all over and leaking.
Told wife to contact sellers and just let their mechanics know that they should be more careful.
Sad to see something like that by a "professional"
New hoses should be at parts store soon and give me something to do on my Labor Day Holiday.
BTW...Happy Labor Day to All
THANKS again for the help

Just finished up replacing rear window wiper transmission, arm, and wiper blade.
Now have swapped batteries, new starter, fixed the new rear brake hoses, front and rear wipers, and a few other misc. items.
Another question that I might ask...
The HVAC has what I am assuming is an actuator behind the dash/console click, click clicking away whenever key goes on or off.
All the functions "seem" to work OK, but guessing when winter hits I will hear differently.
Any insight as to which operation/actuator might travel at start/off?
And my big issue...rocker panels, anyone done much on their own?
I hit the body shop I had hoped would say a grand or 15 hundred and they could make it look decent enough to keep legs and shins from getting sliced and diced.
The slip on covers I see won't take care of everything, but now that I have access to bending brakes, rollers, and sheet stock; thinking I may attempt to create the little filler sections.
The main man at the only body shop I have been able to afford in past 5-10 years ran me thru how-to and parts he thought best, but said with their labor due to new owners I'd be $3 grand plus...not worth it with age and condition of the rest of the Expedition.
Anyone used slip ons or full rockers used panel bond, redone their own?
I have a couple other prospective shops but doubting they are going to be any more enthusiastic.
As always VERY much appreciate any help and advice THANKS
