I lived the dreaded exhaust manifold replacement nitemare and after a long day I got all the studs and broken studs out.
The very first stud I did was a larger diameter than all the rest. I discoverd that someone did a quick fix and had forced the larger stud about 4 threads deep into the head and left the broken stud inside.
After counting threads on a good stud there are 15 total and the thread count on the broken stud inside was 11.
Do I need a helicoil kit or can I make do with the 11. In the attached pic you can see the threads...there is a piece of the easy out that broke when I tried to take the stud piece off it.
