6.8l v10 right valve cover grind

New user yall got question and need to help.. I recently had to change my coils and plugs due to a bad coil. My check engine light never came on but I had noticed I had lost a minimal amount of power so I had it scanned and found the bad coil. Well after changing all the coils and plugs I fired it up and let it idle for about 15 min and that's about the time i heard it. My engine was making an odd grinding noise from under the driver side valve cover. My engine sounded like it was a diesel engine. The noise doesnt get louder with acceleration it stays pretty consistent. I took it and had codes ran again but no codes. So I drove it like this for about a month then I couldn't take it anymore. I pulled all the coils and plugs to check for possible loose plugs. I hadn't realized it when I changed th plugs but they have somehow given me 3 motorcraft platinum plugs and 7 iridium plugs. I quit driving it and have let it set for a few days until I have time to change out plugs again. Any idea what the sound I'm hearing could be thanks in advance sorry I know long post. I'm at the point I feel like I need to open the valve cover to see what it is

The driver's side head has the balancing shaft in it, and it's direct gear-driven right off the camshaft. Either that's making noise, or you have a bad cam journal or some other problem under there. Could even be a really loose timing chain.

Thanks for the reply. I keep thinking it sounds like a loose timing chain. The grinding noise is the loudest the moment I turn off the engine and since the noise first started it has a slight drag when starting the engine and has definitely loss some take off power not enough that my wife has noticed lol but I have. Iv ran the codes on it but it never come back with anything except for 1 srs code. So I know it has to be mechanical I just hope the cam isnt damaged. I'll keep those components in mind when I open her up. Thanks again
