kickdown lever?

does ford have more than one kick down lever for the '88 c-6 tranny? i am trying to hook up the linkage to my throttle linkage but when the accelerator is pressed the linkage pulls forward at the engine which lifts the linkage at the tranny but the lever on the tranny is setup to push down to go into passing gear. i tried flipping the lever but that put the connection point way to far away from the linkage. any ideas?

Can you tell us a little more of what you are doing? Are you putting an older C6 into a newer truck, or ?

I know what the kick down rod looks like for old old carbed 460's.
But for fuel injected 460's, did they go to a different setup? Like on carbed 302's they had a TV rod with the AOD trans, but went to a TV CABLE with fuel injection, because the angles and placement wouldn't workout for a rod anymore.

i have a transplanted 88 460 in a 82 jeep j-10 pickup. i have a rod (not a cable) that i received from a ford donor vehicle. the rod looks pretty close. it clears the block and the firewall but as i mentioned above it seems like i should have a different lever down below to make it work. i remember trying to replace the tranny in my chevy van with a rebuilt trans. the tranny shop gave me the right trans but with the wrong linkage on the shift forks and i had a head scratcher until i called them and they gave me the right stuff.

Sounds like you need to call holley you may need some type of adapter. IF you have a kickdown lever (rod) for the ford c6 and a BB then it sounds like your putting it on the bottom and not the top of the throttle linkage. I would think you have the right one as one kickdown is an actual rod and the other kickdown option was an actual cable and you can either connect one or the other at the tranny so if it fits its the right one. IF your kickdown goes with your tranny then you probably need a special adapter for your tbi to connect the kickdown lever as any aftermarket carb requires a special adapter to connect the kickdown so I would think the tbi would be no different and it should go on the top not the bottom, hope this rambling helps some good luck, Good luck

Get LOKARS kickdown cable for a Ford C-6. You will have to make a bracket to hold the cable forward to the carb/ TBI. I had to do it when I installed the 460 into my Bronco - works great!

I just swapped a manual tranny to a c6 in my 1987 f250 4x4 and ran into this problem. My truck has the EFI 4.9L six and the donor truck that I got the tranny from had a 351w carb. with an actuator rod that connected to the carb. I went to a junkyard and found a fuel injected model F series that had a c6 and it had a cable, similar to a GM tv cable on the engine end. My truck had the spot to click it right into the existing bracket and clip on the throttle plate. The other end is held by a bracket on the shock shift linkage that I stole from the junkyard vehicle. You could probably use one of the cable setups with little to no modification for your needs, good luck
