So I had a pretty decent summer project. My son was driving the 2005 Ford five hundred and the outlet hose came off the water pump and he ended up cooking the engine. I did a compression test on the front 3 cylinders and had 50-75 lbs. not good. I was able to find an engine from an 05 That had 64000 miles less on it. Jacked the car up in the driveway to drop front subframe with engine/transmission together. Then had to roll it into the garage, do the engine change, then roll it back under it and lower it back down. That was a pain lowering it and getting it lined up using one jack. Having to keep moving the jack from lowering the car to jockeying the engine around. Got it back together and running. Have a couple codes to figure out.
Yikes!! Jim why do I think I will see these photos on the interweb under the caption "Why women live longer than men"? That is nuts! No way I would have done that. Kudos to you for getting it done and living to tell about it.
Good morning Cory and Troy.
I would have rather of been doing other things. The body of the car is still in really good shape so I couldn't just junk it. It rides and handles pretty nice, it is based on a volvo 60 or 70 chassis. unfortunately the transmission is still original with 186000 on it but hopefully get a another 20K or so out of it. It was a little overwhelming feeling before I started and always super nervous when you turn the key to see if it will fire. One of the codes is EGR. I don't know the history of the replacement engine so that may have been an issue with it before it was pulled. If I knew that I would have tried to swap it out before putting it back in. couple other codes to figure out also that weren't there with the other engine. I still have the original to pull parts off of so hopefully finding out which ones I need to swap over will fix it.
Got into ATV’ing this summer. I have a 1997 Yamaha kodiak 400 that my father in law gave me 5 years or so ago. But I hadn’t run it for 3?years or so. The float or something stuck and flooded the crankcase with gas. Anyways we went with another couple early this summer and borrowed one of theirs. My wife wanted to get one. I found a 2006 bombardier outlander 400 XT max (2up) and bought that for $2100. Needed some work like updating the Voltage regulator so it would charge and different tires that would hold air. But overall pretty cheap for it. Then I was on Craigslist and found another 06 bombardier outlander 400 XT (1up) for $1800. I bought that one for $1500 with the plow. Another steal of a deal. The gauge doesn’t work because the plastic was cracked and water got in. The 4x4 selector is in 4x4 do need to figure that out but not a big deal. Seat cover was trashed. I used a dog food bag as a temporary cover but I recovered it with material I bought. Came out good. I got some different tires for that one because one was leaking also. For $2600 to get Two 06 outlanders is pretty good
I did get the Yamaha going. Runs pretty good now. We took them all out back last weekend had fun.
I have to agree with the others Jim. Yikes! The safety of that is pretty sketchy. Glad it went ok.

It was up there solid. I could put some pretty good force into pushing the car side to side and it didn't move. I'm not into being maimed or killed by a falling vehicle.
Here is the recover of the green one’s seat. I wanted black but they didn’t have it but the grey looks good. I also got a useD seat Cover for the yellow one so those are both all set.
