a buddy of mine was shot on sunday and he died, after making it through Iraq and getting a purple heart and surviving that...he was one of the 9 people that grew to be like a brother, who we all knew so much about...it hasnt really hit me yet, i just cant believe it...he was due to get out of the marines in 11 days, so he was killed right before he started a new phase in his life, supposedly away from danger...he was buddhist but i know that all prayers will reach the ears of god and i would appreciate any for the family and his friends...thank you
eric
I am very sorry for your loss. Realizing the fact that he was serving his fellow man unselfishly will count at The Gates is no comfort to you or his family now; but it will be in time.
Now, grab your boot-straps, get your Marine Green Oohrah on, and let's see if there is anything we can do to see his family is taken care of.
Whacha Say, Marine?

If a means could be established to accept "outside" donations I would consider it an honor to be able to contribute. . . . please, let me know.

I had to read this three times before it sunk in. To prevent having to go hunting in the state of California I am going to tell myself the shooter didn't know he was shooting at someone who had just spent months risking his life FOR HIM.
But I'll tell ya, I'm having this fantasy about being in a room with the shooter. I am unarmed, and he has a big knife. AND I AM PLEASED THAT HE HAS ONE. It means my concience will surely be clear when it's all over.
Vanhecht, I know what it's like to loose someone suddenly. I lost a friend to a drunk driver a few years ago. My heart and prayers go out to you and his family...
how terribly tragic and upsetting it must be for his family...to have been in a distant land facing danger on a second by second basis...to have endured being seperated all that time and worrying and wondering when and if he would make it home...and then to be at a Barbeque back stateside celebrating being able to come home and be with his loved ones once again...when some coward chooses to open fire on a true hero. I am terribly sorry Vanhect to hear of the loss of your friend. I pray that God will give peace and strength to you and his family.
