Motor is stuck to tranny!

I have a 93 f150 5.0 w/ e40d tra. I can't separate the motor from the trans. All the bolts are out, but one bell house bolt is broken, so its like having 3 alignment dowels instead of 2 now I guess. I've shaken the heck out of it and used wood beams to pry and wiggle but nothing. I've done this on another truck with the same problem and eventually it has popped free. I've been at this one for like three hours. Has anybody got one free that was stuck this bad?

You did remove the flexplate to converter nuts, right?

I pulled a C6 off a 460 the other day. It was stuck on the dowel pins. I ended up loading it up in tension with a big ratchet strap to the rear axle and then got a prybar between the bell and an ear on the block casting. Added a little tapping with a hammer around the bell and she popped free.

When I was 16 I tried to remove the e4od from my 97' 351 combo. What a S**T SHOW that was! Snapped 4 of the bolts off (even after days of pb blaster and heat.) The bellhousing just would not come apart after that. I was swapping the trans anyway so the condition of the old one was not a priority. So with so red neck thinking, my dad and I decided to use a sledge and a dremmel. bell housing was destroyed in the end. But the bolts weren't even seized to the block. Steel and Aluminum (dissimilar metals) just dont mix. What was left of those bolts came out easily with vice grips. I wish i had a better answer 4 you but it penetrating oil and heat in combination with a pry bar do not work, you may be SOL. Count yourself lucky only snapping the one bolt you may still have a fighting chance. Since then Ive had trannys out of my 94, 96, and 97 a total of 5 times. Not to mention the lone chevy engine swap I've done. Not once again have I encountered this problem. Good luck to you man, but there is no easy fix to this problem.

Had similar issue doing the slave cylinder on my truck. Just grabbed the tail end and jerked and jiggled forever till it popped loose. Ended up getting the left side loose, then put a piece if wood in there to pivot 9n while I yanked it back the other way.

When I put a clutch in my '89 8 years or so ago, we had a hell of a time getting the trans and motor to separate as well. Tried putting a ratchet strap to the rear of the trans to pull backward while tapping the bellhousing with a mallet. Tried PB Blaster. Tried heat. Tried brute force. Finally it let go after literally swinging from the running boards under the truck and kicking the bell housing side to side as hard as we could and it finally popped off. Took a chunk of block with it where the dowel is on the driver's side. Never seen anything like that before. We ended up taking an O/A torch to it to get the dowel and chunk of block out after they separated. Sometimes it just takes a ton of brute force. We probably had 6 hours into just removing the trans.
