OK , I know this one is a dead horse but, exhaust options for 5.0 trucks. I was thinking remove the resonator and stock muffler and maybe a dual out muffler but which one? I don't want rattle but don't mind a good rumble.
You can do what you mentioned, but you are very likely to have some annoying drone.
I've had systems from Borla and Corsa, currently running a Corsa Sport system on my '18 5.0 and it has zero drone period. Also enjoyed the S-Type on my last 5.0 which also sounded great and had minimal drone.
I was looking at the single MRBP system and the sound clips I heard may be what I can live with. I'm wondering if a local custom system may be a disappointment. I heard a Flowmaster Outlaw system the other day that is too loud for me.
Can't speak to MBRP personally - have had friends with them and there is some drone around 2k. Maybe that isn't something that bothers you but I hate drone.
That's interesting. It looks like the same system. It has a muffler and resonator so it's a little surprising to get the drone. 2k isn't a good spot for an annoying drone. I may just talk to my local muffler guy and see what he's done to other trucks.
My original plan for this truck to save some cost was to install a Borla 400500 muffler in place of the stock one and leave the resonator in place. Some have also used the Borla XR-1 40085 which is a bit louder and both "claim" to be drone free. I put that in quotes because I haven't heard either setup first-hand.
Here's a Borla 400500 with an xr1 acting as a resonator:
If you go to that users page he has some other videos of the setup as well.
Wife ended up surprising me with the Corsa sport for father's day which is the reason it's on my truck. Thrilled with it but not a budget friendly system. My write up on that system and sound clip here.
Not sure if any of this helps. Don't want you to end up with something that drones and you're unhappy with.
That's a good point. I put the pricey Bassani system on my Lightning and have been extremely satisfied with it. I probably should do the same with the newer truck and get a good system.

Hey Robb, thanks for the heads up on the Borla 400500. This is along the lines that I was thinking. Just a muffler replacement. Wonder how that would sound with the factory resonator??????

Probably pretty good, guess would be similar to a borla touring. There are 1 or 2 guys on the other forum running that setup and seem happy with it. Many run the XR-1 + stock resonator - there were at least some reports of drone which turned me off to considering that setup.
I haven't heard the setup personally so take with a grain of salt.
