Thanx You guy's. All this talk of tilt may have been for the square head light 78-79. Basing that on what Paul added. and Number Dummy said the 78-79 supports are different that 73-77. As for the new copper radiator,I didn't look into one. When I called the radiator shop about a rebuild they didn't mention selling a new one, other than aluminum. I will check on a new copper one Monday.
1973/78 with round headlamps, there are TWO possible radiator supports. D3TZ-16138-B & D3TZ-16138-D
1978/79 with rectangular headlamps, there's only one support = D8TZ-16138-A
this is the radiator I bought. Funny thing is it was the same number they looked up each time, but only on the third try did the radiator shop receive the one with the correct flanges for my truck.
Paul I have a 79 F 100 2WD with the small flange support and I put in a Champion four row 26 x24 radiator, the brackets face the grille side of the radiator. The upper tank would not allow me to bolt the rad to the support. I got 1/4" thick aluminum sheet and I had the metal supply shop cut two 1" x 18" spacers to go between the radiator bracket and the support. The reason for this thread was to install the correct 1975 F 250 4x4 support. I have three supports and not one came from a 4x4. So I just want to be sure the one I install is correct for 1975. I have not yet learned which of the two supports ( round headlamp ) go in the 4x4 from factory. The silver powder coated support is from a 77 camper special 2WD F 250, 460 engine,A/C, super cooling radiator. I will build the 75 4x4 using this set up in front of an FE 390. Isn't funny how so many parts in the after market seem to just throw parts in a box and say yeah that's what you need. Just to be wrong. These radiator supports from NPD are all short flanged when I called and that was using the 2 different part numbers. They didn't have a clue about the tall flange support. They can't get any now anyway. Stuck in China I guess.
Hi All,
1975 F250 Highboy
With Super Cooling radiator as per ND's post #13
I need a new rad core support.
There's currently a core support on ebay described as "NOS Ford Full Size Truck Front Radiator Support Fits 1973-1979 #C7TZ-16138-B".
But a part with C7TZ prefix is not for 1973-1975, am I correct?
As far as I know, you're correct. A C7 would originally have been on a '67 truck, but might have fit the same up to '72 if there were no other changes during that spread. While I can't say for certain, I'm guessing a '72 and older core support is not going to be the same as a '73 and later. And even for the '73 and later, there were at least two designs, if not three (or more) because of the two flange styles for radiator mounting, cold-air intake changes(?) and for the differences in '78 when going between round and rectangular headlights.
So I'd ask for pictures, and compare them closely with yours. Of course someone may still chime in that knows for sure it won't or will fit. But until they do I'd be skeptical.
I just looked at that support it is definitely 73-77. It is NOT a repop. The stickers are ford parts correct. I will say I just bought one for my 77 from an Arizona used parts supplier for 175.00. just needs sanding and paint. no pits or rot anywhere.
