Brake, ABS and TCS lights came on yesterday. I restarted. They went off. Today, they are back on again and will not go off on restart. Brake fluid is topped. With 50,000 miles on it, I know my brakes are getting near needing replacement. Is there any chance low brakes could cause these lights to come on? Would appreciate advise on how to proceed. Thanks.
Sounds like an ABS sensor...just had to change one out in my 14 Escape
It caused the ABS, Hill Climb Assist and 4 wheel drive light/messages to come on

No, there is no 'service advance trac' message. Only the TCS symbol appears, along with the brake and ABS symbols. I started her up again this morning and all three symbols appeared. Drove her slowly to run an errand and stopped for a while. When I started her up again to return home, no symbols. The symbols did not reappear during the drive. I did 5 more restarts and no symbols. Maybe it has to do with a cold engine, components, etc. I'll try again in a few hours.
Drove her for a while, stopped, and restarted. No lights. Took it to a NAPA store where they check ABS codes for free. Although the warning lights were out when I got there, they put a scanner on it and a B1342 code was reported. These warning lights seem to come on only after she has been parked for a while and started. When I drive her a while, stop and restart, the lights do not come on. Any ideas? Thanks.
"OBD II fault code B1342 is most commonly defined as “ECU (Electronic Control Unit) has failed”, or sometimes as “GEM (Generic Control Module) has failed”
Yes, but I've read that this is kind of a generic code that can be caused by anything from low voltage, to broken wire, to dirt on sensor, on so on. In other words, anything that the module doesn't like coming into it will show up as a module failure. Sounds like a nightmare.

The 'Check Brakes', 'ABS' and 'Traction Control' lights all come on when I first start the truck. They stay on while I drive. After reaching normal operating temp, if I turn ignition off and restart, the lights do not come on. This is consistent. However, while driving, sometimes they will come back on and sometimes they stay off. Does anyone know of any tests that I can run to narrow down the possible causes? Thanks.
I think I'll drive her until the lights stay on permanently. That way, the technician should know for sure that the problem is fixed when they do the repair. Is that a good idea? Is the truck safe to drive when the lights are on, even though they'll go off after a stop/start?
