Need answers guys!

My trucks randomly started being rough on its start, it’s a 6.4 so it normally starts within a second, but now it’s kind of chugging for a second then turns right over like it’s nothing, well, while that’s something that happened I noticed while I’m stopped or idling for long periods of time my EOT & ECT go up? Did something block my coolers? Are my coolers an issue? I’ve read numerous things but nobody can really say what is what. After I start the truck it idles fine it sounds fine no weird noises runs like a monster still, and as soon as you start driving again the temperatures go back down. So I normally would be driving and my EOT & ECT would be 203/201 or 199/197. Then it would drop usually 3-4 degrees in each when I came to a stop or idled, but now it rises to about 211/206 and 215/211 haven’t seen it get any higher then that it just gets up to about 216 and will fluctuate? But there’s got to be something to this. Someone said my oils bad I was in need for a change figured it’s a possibility so did the change today and it helped to start it better however the temperatures still are rising? Please let me know!!!

So when your coolants and oil temperature come up like that, do you hear the fan come on? Have you scanned for engine codes?

havent gotten out of the truck to check for the fan coming on but I will, I’m having it diagnosed tomorrow for 200$ at my diesel shop.. I have scanned for dtc codes and nothing pops up so I’m not sure people have said water pump or radiator?

did you ever figure out what was going on with your truck, OP?

I had an 03 cummins a few years ago that started behaving very similar to your truck. It did that for a few months and ran hotter while towing. I was a day or 2 away from giving up and taking it to a local diesel shop when the water pump started weeping. After changing the pump, no more heat issues and back to shedding heat at idle. Hopefully the OP's solution was/is as simple.
