Transmission swap.

Can a 2001 F150 bad 4r70w transmission be swapped out with a 5r55e transmission? New user here. Just trying to learn. Thanks.

Yes, but no. Not worth it.

4r70W is a better transmission. Electronics won't play together and you (and you alone) will be searching for a way to make them happy. Not sure what engine you are working on, but those are integral bell transmissions, so it would have to come from behind the same engine series.

Anyway, get yourself a 4r70w and drive on.

The short answer is no, it cannot.

The longer answer is that yes, it is possible, but it would be a lot cheaper to scrap the truck you have and buy a brand new truck. Given enough time and money ANY transmission can be swapped in. This would be a very difficult and expensive swap.
