Has anyone removed the speed limiter on their 6.7 and ran it up above 100 mph?
I removed our speed limiter, but have not had the need to go above 100 mph, nor plan on it anytime soon. We now have 480 hp and 1,000 torque with economy tune.
Just wondering what it would do.
Make sure and let us know when you plan to go over 100 mph. I don't want to be anywhere around when something comes apart and you crash. Why anyone would want to go that fast with a 3/4 ton or larger truck is beyond me. Disconnecting the speed limiter worked well for this guy.

Drag would also be a factor. Someone somewhere probably has done it. I think the speed limiter on our pickups is around 97 mph, so not to far from 100.
Like 85e150 said, with our horsepower, probably rpm, gear ratio and tire size would be the limiting factor.
What would be interesting is what a stock 6.7 do without a limiter.
I think that when the driveshaft fails might be the limiting factor in how fast it can go.
It's pretty exciting when one fails. I had a modified driveshaft in an engineering development F-250 fail at 65 MPH. It broke at the front and the rear of the truck pole vaulted over the broken shaft. That was enough excitement for me.
When I was young and fearless and raced my 1969 Camaro, I had a driveshaft loop to prevent exactly what you had happen Mark. That was a popular mod with the kids those days for that "just in case" situation. I never needed mine though... Man, would I like to have that car back today...
To the OP's question, isn't tire speed rating also a component of where the speed limiter is set?
Most pickup trucks use tires that are speed rated at R which is 106 mph. Example Goodrich 275r18 tires have an R rating.
This does NOT mean that it is safe to run at 106 mph because there are many other factors to consider.
For you nay Sayers, I have been racing cars since the early 60's and am quite aware of safety factors. I have had a supercharged Corvette with 622 hp, I still have a 1,017 hp drag car, and yes it has a drive shaft loop. My original question was I wonder what top speed our Super Duty trucks could do without the speed limiter. This is a theoretical question, because our trucks probably would go quite a bit faster than 106 mph which would be very dangerous. Ford engineers might have done it with a specially prepared truck, and maybe not. There are HIGHLY MODIFIED pickup trucks running in the 10's at the DRAG STRIP, which would put them over 100 mph.
