1985 f150
I bought a 1985 f-150 that does not have a key, steering column is locked, cannot put it in gear. What do I need to get the steering unlocked to make it to where it can be loaded onto a trailer without a key. Will rekey it later. Transport company picking up on Monday

Get a large chisel or screwdriver and a hammer. Carefully get behind the chrome piece where the key goes in and give it a hard wack or two. It should break off. Then you can get a small screwdriver and slip it up in there and push the little spring loaded pin that holds the tumbler assembly in place. After the tumbler assembly comes out you can stick a screwdriver up in there and start it with that by turning the screwdriver in the slot. Don't worry, this is the procedure that is spelled out in the factory manual if you don't have a key. You can key a new key/tumbler set from the local parts store.
