2.3 needs more power

I have an 88 ranger with a 2.3EFI, 2WD, A4LD trans, that I am tinkering with. I runs fine and I have no problems with it. I would just like to get more power out of it. I installed a K&N filter to let breath a little easier. I have considered a header, a performance chip, high flow exhaust, installing an electric fan and removing the belt driven one, just to name a few thoughts. Could anyone let me know if they have tried any of these modifications and the results? Also any pitfalls that you have experienced. Is there anything that I have not mentioned that I could do? Thanks

I have a 01 2.3L 5 spd.
I put in a Gibson Catback system and a Volant Air Intake system.
The Gibson definetly made the biggest difference. but between the 2 I have a lot more puckup and I can pass going up hill, something i could not do before.

All Of the above starting with the header & exhaust. Next, I would go with the K&N. See how that works and the change in your fuel economy. After those two, you can decide on the rest.

I have no problems with 2.3L in my topaz, but you have to rev it up to 3,000 to get any results out of it. Acceleration could be improved of course.
