So... putting my Bed together.. I was missing the two middle Crossmembers. Go a couple of used... The front and rear I had, but don't remember the disassembly.. I don't have bed strips so don't know the spacing...
Questions:
1} Front Crossmember is L-shaped. Does the "L" go toward the front or the back??
2) I've read where the two center X-members "face each other" ... the one's I bought, have raised section on the base, but no other distinction. What's the face?
3) Which frame hole do the middle x-members bolt too.?? My frame has two holes where each X-member "could" bolt too.. which is it??
See photos.. Thanks for the guidance!!
1. The front crossmember should be a "Z", not an "L". The top flange of the Z should be toward the cab, the bottom flange should be toward the tailgate.
2. The middle crossmembers are actually sloped. The raised section you referenced goes toward the rear axle hump. The raised sections face each other.
3. The middle crossmembers bolt into whichever holes that make the top of the middle crossmembers level, and almost level with the top of the axle hump and the top of the front crossmember. If memory serves, the correct holes are on the hump, the wrong holes are on the level section of the frame. They will also align with the holes in the lower flange of the bed-sides.
