Looking for help with my serial number.
Bought an unfinished project from a widow. Cab and front end are installed on a 2000 F150 chassis with a 460/C6. Just can’t make sense of this number?

 

Welcome to the forum! Canadian numbers have their own serial number system from US production, and information is a bit more scarce. I can tell you you have a hodge-podge of stuff going on, and the previous builder was assembling pieces to create his own project. The curious part is some of the codes don't match with what we see. GM decodes to F6 158" wheelbase, so someone lifted the cab from a big truck to create this. The tag also shows F6 as the model. The first A means standard unit (not dump, bus, or COE) 81 is cab and chassis. The second A is standard cab, not deluxe. H is assembly at Home Office, Windsor, Ont. Here's where things go off the rails. P is year code 1952. 53 should be Q, but the serial number has an unusual 53 prefix, and it's on what is presumed to be a 53 cab. The remaining number is the consecutive unit number. That's about all I know. I could speculate that it's an early production 53, built late in the 52 calendar year and Ford of Canada used year codes in the serial number as calendar codes, not model year codes. But again, that's just a guess. We have not seen enough of these to formulate any kind of knowledgeable assessment.
