I have a 2011 F350 6.7L and have noticed that it shifts very smoothly into 2nd, 4th, and 6th gears. But when it shifts into 3rd and 5th, there is a felt jump into gear. It's not audible and it doesn't rock the whole truck or anything, but I can feel it in my seat and it's noticeable to me. I admit being a bit paranoid as this is my first diesel, but that popping into gear when the others don't is unsettling to me.
I bought it a year ago with 125k miles and now have 150k on it. I have not had the tranny fluid or filter changed and do not know when it was changed last.
Should I get it looked at? Is this something that someone even CAN look at?
Has it been shifting this way since you've owned it?
Like @Mark Kovalsky said, change the filter and fluid. In the mean time check the level, color and smell when hot. Should be slightly pink with no burnt smell and within the full area on the dipstick.
Since the truck came with 125K, you may also want to change the coolant, transfer case fluid, and diff fluid.
