Using the manual shift option, do you guys typically downshift all the way to 1st when stopping, or do you let the truck downshift on its own? Is there a pro / con to either method, like more or less wear on the trans, or does it not matter which way it's done? My first time with an "auto with manual option" vehicle.

The short answer is "the truck doesn't care".
The transmission your truck is controlled electronically, so nothing is done inside that case that isn't commanded by the computer. You'll notice and will let you start out in any gear higher than 3rd, and it won't let you downshift into a low gear at a speed that would over rev the engine. There is nothing you can do with those shifting buttons that will hurt the transmission, engine, or anything else.
Awesome, thanks guys. Some of the downshifts feel rather forceful, so wanted to be sure it was just forceful on me (which I actually don't mind) and not forceful on the trans or engine. Thanks for putting me at ease.
