At the end of my trans like (188k), boled my options down to samwyse or ford HD, if i am looking apples to apples what is sam bringing to table. Mixed reviews on ford quality but could just be internet haters. I do have to admit havind ford dealership nearby is something happens is great, in AZ so cant drive ro ohio. No hot rodding mabe a low hp tune for towing (<8k).
I seem to remember an FTE'r taking delivery on 3 HD4R100's before he received one that was suitable to install. There may be a local rebuilder near you that does good work, might want to check into that. You have options available to you, but at the top of the list is BTS and they go down from there.
Both bts and JW are over $7,500 installed and shipped, i know there is a level of comfort having a warranty with ford, assuming they step up. Not sure how non truck dealers warranty works either. I know if i ask samwyse they would say they are superior to ford factory jsut do to the fact it is hand built
If you can get to Colorado Springs in Colorado give Jesse a call at Best Western Transmission. You can see the reviews speak for themselves. I had them rebuild my transmission, triple disc torque converter, HD Tugger shift kit It was $3800 OTD with a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty they also off a Lifetime Warranty. Great place but BUSY, plan ahead!
I put in a 6.0 cooler 5 yrs ago, does that have to be replaced with new trans? I kno they recomend replacement of stocker, not trans failure, replace fluid every 30k, pan and filter were like new last change.
4r100 HD is Still my plan B if sam wyse stage 1 or 2 does not pan out, so many moving parts and each builder focuses on different parts so hard to tell, do i need upgraded TC, material of clutch....

How much are you getting charged for install? These prices seem really high (I think you mentioned this in another forum). My local diesel shop only charges $500-$600 for install. If you got a Sam Wyse stage 1 for $3400, shipping about $500, install $500, taxes about $300, then you are about $4,700 out the door.
I recently did a upgrade to sam wyse stage 1 with corey at CNC in ohio.. One of the things i asked about with the trans warranty was ,, What happens if I am not in the area and have a problem.. ??" #1 its rare to have an issue.. seem the biggest issues sam was having in the past was with the TQ coming from a local ? guy and the disks was shedding some much material you were having to change fluid first time at like 5K.. that was changed to another builder and the problem is gone. Plus if service is needed there is a networks of other builders sam trust to do the work and will reimburse the cost during the warranty period of 3 yrs unlimited miles. I understand the come back rate the trans is like .01 percent and most of the time it was the bad TQ's not teh rebuild. When i asked about first change he was like 30-40K will be good.. pretty much how i do it now.. drain the pan,, refill,, good to go for another 15K..
Since we are towing now more than in past I will do the drain in fill at 15ish k just to be safe.
