49 F2 Frame

Is the rear frame cross member the same between F1 and F2?

According to the Ford Chassis Parts Catalog, they are not the same. F1 is it's own part, F2-3 are the same. That's not to say they couldn't be made to work in a pinch. The F1 part would be a lighter weight part.

Can you show me that documentation. I have a guy wanting to sell me an f1 piece and swears its the same

Sure. Model C is F1. Model D is F2, model Y is F3.
Crossmember #4 for F1 (rear crosmember as shown in the diagram below) is 21C 5027
Rear crossmember (#6) for F2-3 is 82Y 5035

they look the same but maybe thicker material can you measure the piece the seller has

Will it fit? Maybe the F2/3 cross members are taller.

Will it work if you don't haul heavy loads?

Thanks for the pic. Looks like I have the cross member. I thought maybe someone cut it off when they were cutting the frame rails off. Wayne, do you have a pic and p/n for the f2/f3 rear express bed cross member under the tailgate.
