Does it matter if I put the EGR spacer plate back on with this? After taking it apart it seems like the EGR was blocked off where it connects to the plate anyhow.
All clean from her bath ready to be assembled! Hope I don’t screw this up!
I put mine back on, because it didn’t leak and ran good before, and it was one more thing between the intake and carb to absorb heat. Driving this truck in the Alabama heat, it will diesel on shutoff, and boil the fuel out of the bowl even with 87-89 ethanol free. The fuel these trucks were designed for just isn’t available anymore.
Your local parts store should have a small freeze plug to drive down into the passage in the manifold to stop the leak. They wont last forever but it's a quick way to plug it and not have to worry about a base gasket leak.
For now I will just put it back on the way it was. The truck ran & I didn’t know any different. I typically like to fix things that are incorrect, if you will, while I have the components disassembled. Right now I don’t have the time to wait on a new spacer without the egr aspect nor the money to spend on new stuff when the old works! Thank you for the information everyone! Learning a little more everyday!
