In the early planning stages for a 445 FE build. Part of me really wants to go all out ($$$$). This will be a driver/street truck, 2wd.
I'm wondering what the pros and cons are for building a high compression (but still able to run on 91) 445 vs. a forced induction 445 (I've seen turbo and supercharged versions that intrigue me). My understanding is that a forced induction engine would have to be set up with lower (near stock?) compression.
My opinion is that if you're willing to spend the extra money for forced induction, I would do that. You will potentially make WAY WAY more power than with high compression, on the same fuel. If you choose turbocharging, then you can reduce your boost without fooling with changing blower pulleys if you find yourself in an octane-limited situation, or simply get a load of bad gas. Not so much with high compression...
Forced induction is great, but you have to have self control as more boost will always make more power - until something fails, typically in a catastrophic manner.
