I have a, 06 E-350 Super Duty pass. van. The seams to work ok, but on trips when slowing in traffic it stops working and car gets hot. I checked levels with gauges last year and put a new blower motor in but it didn't help. Trip coming up next week and it needs to work! I've never opened this system up. It has front and rear air, I'm thinking, get it drained, replace the Accumulator / receiver / dryer or dryers (not sure how many I have with the dual air) and recharge? Looking for suggestions.
So condenser looked ok, but I pulled apart the whole box and got into the Evaporator and it was almost completely clogged with wet lint etc.! It's possible to get at without draining system and undoing hoses but not easy. Air blows much better now and cooler. Might need a drain and refill still as it hasn't been done ever I believe.
If someone else is having issues, (not much air coming out of registers even on high) Pull battery, tray, wiper fluid tube etc. remove two bolts on condenser, and undo and remove blower fan. you can then look inside and see how bad yours is and weather you want to dive in deep and deal with it!
