Hey wondering if anyone has had this problem. I have a 4.6. Runs great. Just recently has been taking longer to start. It cranks just fine but takes a few seconds to actually start up. Any suggestions on what it might be?
loss of fuel is a good bet... when the truck sets for a period of time, the fuel might leak back to the tank and the line has to be charged again prior to the injectors working...
When you turn the key to ON, not START, the fuel pump runs for 3 seconds to pressurize the line... Turn the key ON, off, ON, of, ON, off... then start the truck... If it fires up quickly, then your fuel like was empty before the ON-OFF cycles.
You need spark and fuel to start. A clogged filter would cause it to take a little longer to pressurize the fuel system and bad plugs would make it difficult to fire. I'd start by replacing both.
