So apparently this latest update will only allow you to start your vehicle twice using Fordpass, then it disables the start feature until you drive the truck. Total BS. The extend +15 button also does not function either. Anyone else experiencing this with the latest fordpass update? I've deleted/re-installed..all that BS.. I'm in the Adirondack Mountains of NY and I rely on running my Truck numerous times in the winter due to the snow and we get -20+f temps on a regular basis. What the hell is ford thinking? Makes this app useless in many ways to me now.
The actual error FordPass gives me is..
"Vehicle failed to start: You must drive your vehicle after two remote start events."
The +15 button gives the error: "Remote start cannot be extended, the maximum time limit has been reached."
It must be they conformed Fordpass to the actual remote start limits. If I recall correctly, you can only remote start with the key fob twice before having to get in and start it manually.
Might be better to use a block heater in your situation. Did your F150 come with one?
Key fob will start it 3 times at 15 mins max at a time or at least did on my 2015 and now on the 2018. I don't do it often, but some timed I have my dog with me.

As said above, if you are running your truck for 30 minutes to let it warm up, you should probably invest in a block heater and a timed circuit. We routinely see -20F here as well, and I've never needed to let anything run more than 1 remote start. I start it, put my boots and coat on, head out, clean it off, and by the time I'm getting in it's usually warm enough inside to get the gloves off and drive.
On my old diesels, I had a block heater on a timed circuit. It would kick on about 45 minutes before I normally left for work, and shut off around four hours after that, because I was too lazy to buy a programmable timer that would let me set up a weekend timer.
I agree with Fingerlakes... I also live in Canada where we can get serious cold snaps and snow. Before this crappy constricting update, I could start my car as many times as I saw fit... I took a trip in February 2020 and was gone for 2 weeks (before the SHTF) and had to leave my car parked in the longterm parking lot of the airport I flew out of... how wonderful it was to be able to start and run my car after a snowstorm (twice) while I was monitoring weather from the other side of the country... THEN when it came time for me to fly home I landed in the dark during a real cold snap, I started my car from the plane, and let it warm up for 45 minutes while I retrieved my luggage... I came out to frost free windows and a warm interior... late at night with over an hours drive home ahead of me, it made me SO happy to have this feature with my new Ford vehicle.
This restrictive update... SUCKS...
Bad form Ford, bad form.
My guess, too many dingdongs starting truck in enclosed garage and letting them run longer than it's safe. I can see that a lawyer point of concern.
Yeah perhaps, however imho a car in an enclosed garage doesn't really need starting ahead of time... but there's always that ONE kid in the classroom that ruins it for the whole class... common sense isn't so common, and it removes a VERY convenient feature for the rest of us 😡
