First, It is my opinion that the term "bulletproofed" is purely a marketing term coined by Bullet Proof Diesel to sell their products and as such has no real meaning or definition. I have a 2005 6.0 with Factory stockeverything and the so called "bad" TTY head bolts. 140000 so far and no issues. I follow the severe service maintenance schedule and use Ford / Motorcraft parts, filters etc.and Motorcraft 5w40 full synthetic diesel oil. If I were to ever chose to modify (hot rod, soup up, tune etc.) my truck from stock there are many recommended changes I would implement starting with head studs & o-rings followed by lots of cooling mods but these are not required,in my experience, if the truck is kept fully stock, well maintained, and driven professionally. Good Luck, Russ
Well change the egr and oil cooler is you are planning to tow! These motors are very touchy! I recommend changing oil every 5k and fuel filter every other oil change . My 6.0 is studded and o-ringed and I’ve changed the the egr to bpd egr cooler and used a ford oem oil cooler. I’ve changed the 6.0 fan and fan clutch to the 7.3 fan clutch and fan and my temps never go above 200 degrees . I run a sct tuner to monitor the engine
