Why chevy always lead in HP?

Because General Motors tends to make engines with more displacement?
Point of fact however is that the cylinder head design that Chevrolet uses has, at least prior to the advent of the modular motors, been superior to Fords design.
Ford smallblocks are notoriously choked off in the exhaust department insofar as cylinder heads are concerned.
That said, I'd still prefer to stick to my Fords as they've proven themselves to be more reliable to me both as daily transportation as well as when using them to drag race.

Chevy doesn't have more hp than Ford. Ford wins with the 5.4 vs 5.3, they win with the 6.8 vs. 8.1 and last I checked they were winning with the Powerstroke vs. the Duramax. I don't know about the 4.6 vs. 4.8 or any of the 6 cylinder engines, but Ford is definitely winning where it counts.

Well Ford has the engines that produce torque where its needed most on the low end. Horsepower means nothing unless you have low end torque. Take the 300 6 it only has what 165 hp. Looking at that number you would say oh that engine is a wimp. But the low end torque was awesome in that motor. Getting off the subject here the Dodge hemi has a high horsepower rating but low end torque suffers. When you get her wrapped up your fine but its starting out that gets you. One big reason the hemi fails miserably in the HD trucks. The Ford V-10 with low end torque would eat its lunch and spit it out. Sorry for getting of the subject here. Just making a point. Back to the thread.

Several said no they werent. Whatever they did was not a permanent fix. Add to the list the list there famous or infamous fuel pumps that die an early death.

I love all the going back and forth about Ford and chevy.. But need I remind everyone that it was chevy that had to build a FORD head to compete better in nascar.. One more thing I can say for sure.. In Arizona most all mines here use FORD trucks, over all of them.. I happen to catch someone in purchasing call a chevy dealer up and tell the person on the other end to come get all of his chevies, as he had FORDs on their way.. Every machanic I have ever talked to at the mines here say they would rather work on the ford. The one thing they all agreed to was it made no matter which brand it was they all wore the brakes out in about the same time.. From working in some of those open pit mines I can say they are hard on trucks.
