2007 Ford E350 shift to Drive but doesn't move forward
Hello guys, I am thankful to find this forum and hope to get some advices.
I have a 2007 Ford E350 passenger van and it was left on the driveway for a good a few months thanks for this COVID19 pandemic.
So I did what I usually do to start a car, foot on brake pedal, started the engine, shifted into Drive, released brake, foot on gas, and it doesn't move forward. I checked the gear, it is on D for drive, not on N for neutral, that's how I realized something is wrong. So, I tried to put into reverse, it did move backward a tiny bit and that's it. I pumped up the RPM to 3000 and it still doesn't move forward, of backward. I tried to use manual gear 3 , 2, and 1 but none of them works. After I get out, I smell a little bit of burning and boy I hope I did not kill any parts by accident.
I just replaced the vehicle battery, but that should not be the issue.
The battery was 12.58V before connected, and become 12.33V after I hooked up the wire.
After I started the engine, it goes up to 14.04V, and go down to 13.86V when I turn on the headlight.
The voltage will keep go down to 11.93V when I turn on the radio, fan, and the headlight; With everything turned on, battery votage will get up to 13.58V when the engine is at 3000 RPM.
So is this normal? the battery level should be alwayst at 14V right? I feel the vehicle alternator is also not working well and may need a replacement. It's been 13 years afterall.
Any tips and advices are appreciated.
Thank you for helping!
You're having problems with the transmission, none of your described symptoms are alternator, battery or electrical system related. Is the transmission fluid at its proper level? Does the OD light on the shift stalk blink when the engine is running?

If a clutch was partially applied when you did this then yes, you killed it. 3000 RPM on a slipping clutch will totally destroy it in a few seconds.
Very low trans fluid can cause this. If it was too low to engage and you ran it up to 3000 RPM you may also have destroyed the transmission pump.
I am not sure about the transmission fluid level, but I will check it as soon as I get back today. I did notice the milage LED is showing --------------- instead of acutal number. Thanks for replying
OMG, I was so dump. In the beinning I thought the van was loaded with some weight so it needs some RPM to get moving, I was so dump. Now I am just hoping the clutch was not applied. How much usually does it cost to replace a transmission?
Could be a long shot but maybe the brakes are stuck. If you didn’t have problems with your transmission before I don’t see how being stopped have anything to do with the transmission failing.
jack up the van put it in neutral and see if the tires spin.

That's a waste of time and effort.
If the engine speed goes up to 3000 RPM and the van doesn't move it isn't the brakes. The trans isn't engaged. If the trans engaged he wouldn't be able to get the RPM over 2000.
