I found a stock factory radio from the 70s. Someone cut all but two wires. Can someone help me interpret what all the wires are, please? I assume the one that hasn't been cut is the antenna.
Ok. Searching around I think I found most of them. Y'all correct me if I am wrong.
white/green, pink/blue, orange/green, pink/green are all the 4 speakers. Black not cut is 12v power. So don't know blue/red not cut and the black/white that is cut.

1967 F100/350 is 1967 only // 1968/72 F100/350 is different than 1973/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco.
Ford did not offer an 8 track tape or cassette tape radio for trucks/Bronco's until 1980. If you find a radio from the 1970's with either feature, it's from a car.
Car radios will not fit into the dashes of trucks/Bronco's properly and depending what it's from, may not fit at all.
Thank you. Maybe it is from the 80s but it fits fine in the dash of my 1973 f250. I just can't get it to work and was trying to understand what all the wires are so I am sure I am setting it up correctly.
thanks again
All I got for ya...The OEM radio was powered by a GREEN 2-terminal pigtail. YELLOW with a BLACK stripe is switched power, BLUE with RED stripe is dash illumination. Do NOT mistake the BLUE with RED stripe wire for ground. The OEM radio grounded through its mounting chassis. The speakers were connected over a separate pigtail.
FYI behind the glove box there is a connection the goes off the green and yellow. GREEN with YELLOW stripe wiring is hot-at-all-times power for the courtesy lamp circuit. Use that to get constant power without the key on. There is a 3-connector pigtail behind the glove box (which also goes on to power the cigarette lighter).
It's not the stock radio wire because the stock radio didn't need hot-at-all-times power (EXCEPT the factory digital AM radio for clock memory).
solid black—power
blue with red stripe--dial light
black with gray dashes—ground
orange with green dashes--right speaker
white with green dashes--left speaker
Assuming an AM/FM stereo and stock wiring harness'. Purple is ground, right speaker is white and left speaker is orange.
this is interesting on the chassis being the ground. I put the original radio back in. I can check with a multimeter that i am getting power to the unit, but i cant get any sound. speakers work so i know thats not the issue. Could it be something with the fact that it is out sitting on my dash? i cant imagine i would have to completely put it back in its harness in the dash, but your comment made me think. not sure what else could be going on since it worked fine before i took it out and their are literally only 4 wires. 1 power, 1 light, 2 speaker.
