Recently bought a f250. They guy I bought it from said it only worked on the front tank. Well after driving around a couple days i would lose rpms between 30-40 mph. After filling the front tank and driving home I noticed gas was leaking from the rear gas cap. So when I started the truck up again it would run and fire up just fine. But while it was at idle gas was coming out of the rear tank again so I opened the gas cap ( which was dumb ) and the truck shut off and now won’t start I’m no mechanic but all my fuel pump relays are fine and my inertia switch isn’t tripped and I have power going to my fuel pump. I’m not sure how many volts. Any ideas?
I am no expert but in thinking about it... check the valve that switches from one tank to the other. it may be going bad and not fully positioning correctly.
It’s a 1996 f250 it turned out to be the fuel pump, now my rear fuel pump does not work so when I’m driving the front pump send fuel to my rear tank and when it gets to full it will then come out the gas cap. So I guess my question is can I bypass the rear tank? How? Will the pressure remain the same and not cause any problems?
