1973 F100, 390 C6 transmissions.
The transmission leaked often, so I changed the pan and filter; and about 2 qts came out. I added 3 qts, the dipstick still doesn't even register yet.
Before, I start adding additional transmission fluid. Is there a proper way to add it?
I assume, let the transmission warm-up, add one qtr, and shift through the gears, repeat?
Is the Capacity 7 qtrs ?
When I did mine I also drained the torque converter and the total to fill it all back up was 14 quarts I believe. Does the truck go into gear at your current level?
I can't think of any other case where I'd suggest a snake oil, of magic fix whatever you want to call it but there is one that's impressed me many times. try a bottle of Lucus Transmission tune up. it helps the transmission out and it really does seal up most leaks . not all but most.
Well it probably doesn't go into gear because it is so low. If mine is more than a quart low, it won't go into gear at all. Keep adding it until you see it on the mark and then it should go into gear.
