I just purchased a 1978 Ford F100 Ranger XLT with the long bed. The truck is generally in pretty good shape, but there a re few customizations I would like to do to it.
One of things I would eventually like to do is put a hard tonneau cover on the bed, painted to match the truck. I have looked numerous places for tonneau covers, but none seem to have what I am looking for. Does anyone have an idea where I could look something like this?
Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to FTE. Sorry to say I have never seen a hard tonneau cover that was specifically designed and made to fit 73-79. I have seen some that were "made" to work.
When I bought my truck it came with a LUND hard tonneau cover.
I don’t think there’s anything specific for your truck, but this cover works pretty good.
Of course the color do not match the truck as you were requesting, but it’s fine for me.
Thank for the suggestions. I will probably have to go with one of these options. I had a picture in my mind of what I wanted, but these look pretty good. I'm a ways off from getting one anyway. Just trying to spec out everything I want to do with the truck. Here's a pic of it.

I love that color scheme, I had one almost the way once AND it was 4wd. But it way rough around the edges, so to speak. Ranger Xlt...do you have the chrome edge grill insert? It looks so, but not the headlight bezel, or maybe it is just the angle? No matter great looking truck.
I can see the grill I was just wondering about the headlight "trim" bezel piece, they look argent grey/black. Were they that way when you got it, or did you change them out?
Interesting because normally if you get a chrome edge grill, you get the matching headlight bezels. Here is what I mean. The 1st pic is how I got the truck and after I put the chrome grill and headlight bezels on it.
