In anticipation of perhaps needing a lower intake manifold for my 91 460 7.5, what other years of 460 lower intakes will work on my 91? Thank you Sandy
All EFI 460’s used the same manifold so this does include the 96 and 97 model years as well.
I also broke one of the thermostat housing bolts off in my 460 lower. My local machine shop charged $5 to remove it. Have you taken yours in to see if they can remove it?

Mine is a broken tap in the thermostat housing. Very different and difficult situation compared to a bolt. I did speak with a local machine shop that has been around a long time and they won't touch it.
That’s too bad, have you got any junkyards nearby? It’s not too difficult of a job to do. You’re likely to find one that’s already been at least partially stripped of parts.

Plenty around here. I also put a request on the 460 forum. Tomorrow I'm going to dedicate the day to finding one. Lowers for carbureted models are dime-a-dozen.
Good deal. Fingers crossed you find one, which I’m sure you will. But yeah Ford used the same one throughout all the EFI years. Maybe try removing the thermostat housing prior to removing rest of manifold just in case!

Thank you. The housing is part of the manifold non-removable
As mentioned above, the same thru 97. You will have to find a machine shop with EDM, electrical discharge, capabilities. They will burn it out. Then with a good heli-coil or time sert thread repair, with stainless bolts, you're all set. My shop worked on Porsche automobiles, and once emissions got going in the early 70s with all increased engine temps, exhaust header studs would be breaking all the time. And the owner would attempt to drill and tap the hole, laying on the ground, looking up and you know what's going to happen. Pull the engine, pull the head with broken studs and off to the machine shop. Those machines are pretty common. Larry
Thanks Larry. I will ask about that tomorrow when I'm checking all avenues. I just read up on the machines. Hope I can find someone that has one. Sandy
