Hey all! I have a 71 F250 with the 390 and lately it'll start up great and run great while motor is still cold but once it gets warm it falls on its face trying to get up to speed and rpms jump through the roof. The other day after having the distributor rebuilt started right up let it idle in park until warm revved up beautifully put it in first and gave it gas and it just falls on its face!! Any ideas??
Without being there it's hard to say what needs to be done. First off replace all vacuum lines. Replace all rubber lines. Check for any vacuum leaks.
Make sure electrical at distributor has good connections. Clean all grounding surfaces real good. Replace any bad ground.
Do all the basic checks then see where your at.

Accelerator pump: Stumbles, bogs down, hesitates from a dead stop or when accelerating at speed. It's the same 1964/74 2100 series 2V carb and comes with the carb kit.

I havent checked the accelerator pump yet! I have ensured everything is getting spark rebuilt complete distributor. Has new fuel line, new fuel pump, new ignition coil, new plugs fires right up runs and revs up beautifully in park but still bogs down and rpms jump when accelerating in gear

Accelerator pump located at front of the carb behind a cover that is retained by 4 screws.
Do not move the lever on the cover to a different position and remove the cover carefully, as there's a large coil spring behind it.
Accelerator pump hardens up from engine heat, this is a common problem with the 2100 series 2V carb.

I guess I should've said it has a bigger 4brl Edelbrock also timing has to be at almost at 20 before it'll run ok possible timing chain issue with load on?

Hold on, are you saying the engines revs up but the truck doesn't move? "RPMs jump when accelerating in gear" would be that the transmission is slipping? You need to explain this better. If it bogs the rpms would drop not increase.
It's a C6 transmission and when it gets put in gear the rpms jump high when trying to get up to speed but the motor stutters but only when its been warmed up to operating temp

Transmission appears good full of fluid and when I say rpms jump I'll give it enough gas to get up to lets say 30 or 40 mph and whatbwould typically be 2500 rpms and itll jump up 4500 plus
