1988 F250 - passenger window is stuck completely open. I thought that I could manually raise the window for a temporary fix, but there is absolutely no play between the crescent shaped gear that meshes with the motor gear and the window is absolutely stuck in its down position. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dan
You will likely have to remove the power window motor. I have had nothing but problems with the power windows in my 88 F250 for the last three years. I have burned out 4 or 5 motors between the passenger side and drivers side. I finally had enough deciding that the window regulator was likely binding and damaging the motors. I went with new regulators with motors (they came as a preassembled set) and just replaced both sides. Hopefully, no more problems. If the motor is bad and you just need your window to stay up, remove the motor and lift the class to the closed position, then reinstall the motor. You can use a piece of 2x2 wood underneath the window to hold the window up until you get the motor back in. You may also be able to use plastic wedges to keep the glass from sliding back down. That is what I did until I got the replacements. Hope this helps...
You bet.... This seems to be an ongoing problem in that era.. I have seen and read a lot of posts that point at switches etc but mine are back working after the replacement of the whole assemblies.. Good luck...
