Torque Pro Readings

Greetings! I recently completed a complete overhaul of the High Pressure Oil System on the truck in my signature after a Ford reman HPOP quit on me. I've installed a DieselSite Adrenaline HPOP, replaced the discharge tube, standpipe and dummy plugs, oil rail nipple o-rings and all the injector o-rings.

The truck is running great. I've been monitoring all the vitals with the Torque Pro app. Cruising around town 35-45 mph, the HPOP pressure around 800-1000 psi. On the hiway, on relatively flat terrain, traveling 70 mph I'm seeing 1300-1900 psi. When I accelerate hard, it's up around 3900 psi. Are these numbers what you would consider in the normal range?

Thanks - Kurt

It's not that straight forward. Those numbers don't mean anything without context. What you need to look at is the ICP voltage. With that voltage you can calculate the desired HPOP pressure. Once you have that you can compare your actual HPOP pressure values to the desired value.

It's been a while, I will see if I can find the equations for torque pro. The desired ICP equation for torque pro isn't great because it's a line of best fit equation. It can be pretty inaccurate. You might be better off logging some ICP voltages and HPOP pressures and look at the Ford chart.

(Edit: added equation)
Here is what I have, I don't remember whose equation it is, I had been messing around in MATLAB looking for a better fitting equation. I don't remember what if I ended up using mine or someone else's.

Here is a post @bismic made a while ago with a graph and equation.

You really need to look at IPR valve in conjunction with the ICP. The PCM will command the IPR valve to give a desired ICP for the various running conditions.

ICP & IPR position at hot idle are a good indication of HP oil system leaks as it's consistent. My previous 05 and my current 06 ran right around 580psi at idle with the IPR valve at 23%. An 03 might have different numbers as it's a different HPOP, ICP sensors, etc.

While driving there are so many variables I don't think you can really use that to judge it's health. Maybe the full PSI at WOT. 3900psig sounds about right.
