Hey Guys: Ms Rudy here again with a quick question,,
The hubby ran into a problem.. He just finished replacing injector "o" rings on our late 2004 6.0 f250. He started to clean up the valve cover before replacing it on the engine and noticed it was extremely "pitted",, just on the inside,, not where it bolts down to the gasket,, like it had gotten rusty or something. The question is, will it be ok to just put it back on? Will those pits flake off into the injectors? or should we paint it, sand blast it?? Really can't afford to replace it right now if not completely necessary.
If you’re worried clean it real good with a scotcloc or similar rotary cleaner or even a wire bush, just stay off the gasket surface, no way for any of it to get in the injectors. Stay away from sand blasting it.
