steering wheel

have a 64 with a cv ifs under the front end and the steering wheel and by belly don't get along and the seat is back as far as it will go have a little wheel on it right now but it looks bad
looked a a wood mustang wheel but they gave a big offset also so what is every one using for a wheel ?

If you’re in an adventurous mood for a project, you could shorten the column. I went with a 78 tilt column and took out 4 inches. That really helped, in addition to having the tilt mechanism, in addition to having a beer gut which hasn’t quite matured yet....

I did the same as resonateur in regards to the new column with tilt. I’m a small guy and don’t have the investment yet (beer belly) but it definitely gave me more room.

I went with a 30" aftermarket tilt column and a 13 1/2" steering wheel. This combo worked good for my beer belly. Here's a picture of the column.

The column on my '64 is on a small spacer block. I've wondered if I could remove it and tilt the shaft up to the bottom of the dash. I would need to redrill two of the steering box mounting bolts and pivot it on the third, to do it. Or cut the column and install a joint in it.
