Hello, the four emissions lines that connect to the gas tank on my 1970 have broken off from age, leaving four open holes in the tank (that leak gas when tank topped off). I don’t know what to do. Can I just plug the holes and bypass the emissions thing? The rig is exempt from smog check anyway. I’m unsure if I can plug them because I don’t see any other vents on the gas tank (there is only filler hole and return hole). Any and all insights appreciated

If Idaho does not have smog tests, you can remove the lines and cap off the nipple on the fuel vapor valve on the tank and charcoal canister valve.
Be aware that this setup came with a NON vented fuel cap, the problem is, finding a vented fuel cap that will work with the NON vented fuel filler tube.
You will probably have to change the tube to the type used without Evaporative Emission. Lotsa luck finding one.
In 1976 actor Bill Bixby, who owned a 1970 E300 Econoline camper conversion lost his fuel cap. The puppy was obsolete and back then, there was no way to find a new cap.
I told him you may have to revert to Midnight Auto, because all 1970 Econolines sold new in CA had Evaporative Emission.
Well, they do have smog tests, it’s just that my van is exempt. If I can’t find a vented cap, can’t I just put in an aftermarket tank with a rollover vent installed on it? Won’t that accomplish the same thing as having a vented cap? thanks

The problem as Bill Bixby found out is...the vented fuel cap will not fit on the Evap/Em non vented fuel filler tube.
OK, I understand. So can I just put in an aftermarket tank with a vent valve installed in it and cap off the emissions lines? In that case, then I could use a non-vented fuel cap right? Would this set up work?
