Hi Everyone! How are we doing? Well an oppurtunity has presented itself to me down here SE GA to buy a Ford F-250 that has a screwed up motor in it. The 5.7L engine that is in it started sucking coolant into the oil. So my question is can you take a 5.7L engine and replace it with a 6.8L would the bolt hole line up you think? OR were could one find a 5.7L engine block? I offered the $2500 to him and he took it. I’ll update this post with what the truck miles are.
take care
Ben

Reason: Missing some thoughts.
the 5.7 was not offered in 2000. should be a 5.4. if its got a 5.7 in it, you have a frankentruck, and i wish you luck in sorting it all out. i bel;ieve swapping a 6.8 into a 5.4 truck can certainly be done, but its not a bolt it in and run it thing. youd need the ECM and wiring and all that from the donor.
I had a 2000 F250 5.4 automatic, and one of my brothers had a 2000 F250 6.8 automatic. There were several key differences besides the engines:
1) Radiator (bigger on the 6.8)
2) 4R100 auto trans (version for the 6.8 and 7.3 had lower stall ratio torque converter, maybe some other different internals)
3) Ford specs indicated his truck’s differential had a three-pinion spider gear set vs two in mine.

P.S. Please post some pics of your truck if you can!

I was able to find a little more about it...It is 5.4L gas engine. The salvage yard that I sent a message to said that IT IS NOT suggested switching the V8 with the V10. So the question what kind of stuff can I find for this truck? So what caused the engine to starting sucking the coolant into engine block is the question. It is a regular cab.

Sounds like a blown head gasket.
Our 2000 F250 CCSB 4x2 5.4 ran well enough, IMHO. However, ours came from the factory with the optional 4.10 axle ratio (3.73 was standard), and we ran stock diameter wheels and tires.
