1950 engine block colours

Wondering if someone could clear up something for me , I have a Canadian build 1950 F68 239 ci 8BA and was wondering if anyone would know the proper engine block colour. I’ve done some research and can’t find a definitive answer, I've seen everything from all black , all blue, red , orange, green, a sandy cream and a green block with cream colour heads . I’m sure they weren’t black red or orange . My engine is a green block with the cream colour heads but some are saying it should be all blue or because it’s canadian built all the sandy cream colour . Not sure if the fact it’s a Canadian built truck makes a difference in the colour
Any help would be great .
Thanks , Tim

This might help a little.

Here's another with a Canadian pic.

I believe green was the colour of authorized Ford engine rebuilders.

Block Colour

Here's a photo of my 1951 M3 (Canadian).
Light green.

We have a 1950 F47 that was recently restored back to original condition. The proper engine color is an interesting topic. Ford Canada was of no assistance in providing original color codes or assistance. There is a lot of misinformation out there with the Canadian trucks because so few were manufactured, or remain. I was also told that many trucks were sent to Korea. There was a condition to the British military color standards dating back to WWII and this might have been one of the reasons why the engines were painted beige We knew the engine was originally painted beige because we found traces during the block cleanup. The transmission was also painted the same color. We settled on Cummins Beige because it is readily available and "everyone" believes this is as correct as possible. I am not aware of any resource that can provide more documented or definitive information.

I will post some photographs from my office computer. The guy on YouTube with the F47 restoration has a lot of good information, However, I might disagree with some of what is said. Not experts, but we worked hard to make this truck as original as possible. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 507.363.1033.

Good luck

Thank you 100550. Great information , I’ve read about the beige colour and and the military influence, and it makes sense to me . I think that in all probability my engine will end up Cummins beige , keep it as Canadian as I can , plus I kind of like the idea. I was not a fan of the green block and beige heads , the way it’s painted now.
Now I’m wondering, the front stake pocket on the drivers side has a oversized crank hole in it that is open into the box, a few inches above the floor , the outside hole is vertical and the inside is horizontal. There are hole covers with spring type clips to hold them in the holes. It’s not for a spare tire ,and so far the most logical answer is some kind of winch crank. But now I’m wondering if it could have some sort of military application .

I found some traces of a beige color on my block and quite a lot of the same color on the transmission of my Canadian built '52 F1.
I ended up using the Cummins Diesel Beige engine enamel paint by Dupli-color. It was a very close match with the original color.

Like your shop. Your works looks to be excellent. It's great seeing the detail and hard work that goes into a restoration project.

TGM: Here are some photographs of our restored 1950 F47. Like any restoration, it does not come easy, but the time, talent and treasure usually pay off with a nice looking result. Persistence is the key. We had the Canadian air filter housing off to tune the carburetor. I have photos of bits and pieces of the air cleaner and oil filter housing decals to replicate. Will need to be done using Photoshop. We can produce decals in house when the artwork has been completed. I'm also replicating the nameplate found on the glove box door. Seems that nobody has replicated the Canadian version. When completed, I'll send you a plate and the decals.
