1963 F-100, 292 c.i. Y block. Just had the cable from my starter to the relay/solenoid melt itself off of the solenoid. New solenoid seems to be week. Not enough amps (or something). Engine doesn't have much power, and has a hesitation when I hit the gas pedal, that wasn't there before. One school says there is a problem with my ignition switch. I'm no trouble shooter, What do you guys say ?
Are you having problems with it starting or running? Your first sentence suggests starting, but mentioning the gas pedal suggests an issue with running. Did you replace the melted cable or did you just reconnect?
The cable melted where it bolts on to the solenoid, and actually came apart from the solenoid. I replaced the solenoid, but now it seems the engine is not getting all the amps or volts it needs to run proper. Seeking ideas or experience to solve reason for melting and the reason for lack of engine power. One school says it could be my ignition switch, another says my starter. Do you have any input ?
Cable that has been compromised, ie melted, should be replaced. Think of cable like a water hose. The hose has to be in good shape for the water to flow and electrical cable is no different. I would start there.

I pulled the starter cable and the positive battery cable. Both had worn connectors on them. Getting new ones tomorrow. Thanks for your help
