smoking 360

I recently bought a 71 f250 Highboy with a 360 2bl 2100 carb. I don't know the history of the motor. It starts and runs good but makes a good bit of blue smoke on starting it. The smoke will thin out as it is driven somewhat, but still smokes. The plugs (spark plug tips)are all very black, compression is all 120 psi +or- 10 psi. Oil pressure starts out cold 50 psi and drops to 12-14 hot idle. Hot running is about 25-30. I read the post about wix filters and running a straight viscosity oil. Right now it is new 20w40 with a fram filter. I followed the chiltons cylinder pressure procedure and squirted oil in the cylinders after initial test. The pressure came up about about 5-10 psi but thats it. It doesn't nock or make any strange noises. I'm trying to figure out if this is a pull the heads or rebuild the motor problem. Any help is appreciated. I am getting ready to repaint it and want do do the dirty work first not after its painted.

Thanks,

Sounds like valve guides or your seals are all hardened and cracked. Compression is not too bad, I'd give her a valve job and a new timing chain while it's down.

I'm with BB--sounds like the valve guide seals are shot.

Pull the heads, have a valve job done (even better, get Edelbrock aluminum heads), & you're set. Oh, yeah: throw that Fram filter in the trash where it belongs.
