A/C control issue

I have a 2004 Ex 6.0 that since new on hot days the A/C controller will randomly not power up when the truck is turned on. Seems more frequent on the really hot days and does not happen at all in the winter. Sometimes I can cycle the truck and it will come on, sometimes its out for the day and works the next day, and sometimes its a day or two or three before it works again. Pressing the buttons do nothing. I've taken it to Ford and it always corrects itself before they can look at it. Even had it with the service managers when it doesn't work, but, again, it corrects itself and they've done nothing to fix it. I've learned to live with it in the 300,000 miles now on the truck.

So, in the other Excursion yesterday, a 2002 7.3 with 90,000 miles, in 85 degree heat but the truck was in a garage, that A/C controller did the same - it did not come on. Did not realize what truck I was in so I rolled down the windows and off I went. 15 minutes later, it magically comes on and life goes on as normal.

Does anyone else have this issue? I can not be the only one out there now that both trucks are doing it. Any suggestions or fixes that anyone has found? It's hot out there and black trucks are not great in the heat!

I've searched about 30 pages of threads and can't find anything so I thought I would ask. If there is a thread, please point me to it.
