I found a trailer on RV Trader that I'm interested in. I send the (private) owner a message through the RV Trader website. Their website sent me an email confirming that the message had been sent. I got nothing back from the owner. The ad is still active and has been for 32 days.
Is this normal on RV Trader? Has this individual sold the unit, hasn't taken down the ad and is being rude by not responding?
He pulls the trailer with a Super duty, so I was expecting better manners.
My understanding is that the current supply (low) vs. demand (high) balance is seriously out of whack due to the coronavirus pandemic. One possibility is that if the camper was in good shape and competitively priced, then it might indeed have been sold already.
But, yeah, something simple like “Thank you for your interest; the camper has been sold.” would be nice.
I have had the same lack of response to email requests to be so commonplace that I have almost given up on expecting timely responses. This is true not only from private individuals, but also from businesses. I am not sure what the thinking is, but even companies who have "email us" or "chat boxes" do not honor them. Now I wait a day and if there is another means of contact posted, I call. I think some folks who post think emailers or texters are less serious or just wasting their time.
I did have similar experiences on RV Trader more than one time and also found dealers who left ads up for units they sold months preceding. Just another sign of dwindling concern and courtesy for others is my opinion.
